Four-Dimensional ultrasound shows intrauterine fetal growth by means of high-technology ultrasonic probe. The multiple dimension reflection of ultrasound is calculated and displayed by the high speed computer programs. The ultrasound is not radioactive so it will not be harmful to both the mother and the fetus. 

If the fetal lies properly and the amniotic fluid is sufficient, we can clearly show fetal three-dimensional image and real-time activity of the fetus through the 4D ultrasound. 

The goals and the timing to perform the 4D ultrasound depend on the condition of mother and the doctor’s decision. Generally, the doctor may perform the examination for you at the gestational age of 24~32 weeks.

At present, the fees for 4D ultrasound is not included in the national insurance system. The expense is showed as below: 

1. 4D fetal photograph and baby-friendly experience (NT.2,000)

• You may experience it for 20 minutes. We’ll give you the DVD of the real-time fetal images of your baby. 
• You can choose two digital and full-color photograph of your baby. 
• If you want more photographs, we’ll charge 200 NT dollars more each photograph. 

• During antenatal examination, if the fetal lies properly, we may arrange or book another appointment to perform 3D fetal ultrasound. 
• You will get a VCD which contains four files of 3D fetal ultrasound.
• If you want more photographs, we’ll charge 200 NT dollars for each photograph.

• During antenatal examination, if the fetal lies properly, we may arrange or book another appointment to perform 3D polaroid fetal ultrasound.
• You will get a photograph of digital 3D fetal ultrasound.
• If you want more photographs, we’ll charge 200 NT dollars for each photograph.

• Goal: It is an assistant method to screen Down’s syndrome and congenital heart disease.
• Theory: We check the thickness of a translucent space of the fetal neck by 3D ultrasound. The space is between the fetal C-spine and the skin.
• According to the scientific document, the thickness of the fetal nuchal translucency will detect 21~91% (an average of 70%) of cases with Down’s syndrome. If the screen classifies your fetus under high risk group, we may suggest you to receive further chorionic villus sampling (CVS) or amniocentasis. 
• The examination for Down syndrome screening will not take place from maternal blood sampling. After the estimation of fetal nuchal translucency, we strongly recommend you to receive Down’s syndrome screen from maternal blood. The rate of overall accuracy will increase to 80%. 
• The thickening of fetal nuchal translucency may have something to do with the fetal congenital heart disease (56%). Thus, we’ll suggest you to receive high level ultrasound to evaluate the structure of the fetus at the gestational age of 20~24 weeks. 
• The expenses: the fees of the examination are not included by the national health insurance system.
