Notice for the use of Mifepristone:

Be prepared for either medicinal abortion or induced abortion. Before taking any medication, you may terminate medicinal abortion and opt for other alternatives.

Heart disease like heart valve prolapsed, high blood pressure, asthma, anemia, or other addicted disease are determinants for not using medical abortion. Notify your physician if you have one of the ten forbidden diseases indicated for inappropriate users of RU486.
The ten disorders are:
(1) Chronic renal failure or renal impairment
(2) Patients being allergic to RU486
(3) Long term use of steroid treatment
(4) Haemorrhagic diseases with anticoagulant therapy
(5) The woman whose pregancy has not been ultrasound scanned or confirmed by biochemical tests.
(6) The number of pregnancy days exceeding 49 days.
(7) People suspected of ectopic pregnancy
(8) The patient who is not in condition for prostaglandin use.
(9) Women over the age of 35 and addicted to more than 10 cigarettes a day.
(10) Hereditary porphyria

The chances for inducing severe side-effect are 10-15% especially within a few hours of taking prostaglandins; patients could suffer from uterine contraction or spasm phenomenon; also there are side-effects like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Return to the hospital as scheduled for virginal bleeding takes longer; fortunately, the success rate for medicinal abortion is 95%.
The process of medicinal abortion:

Ultrasound examination must be done before medicinal abortion and if there is IUD, doctors has to remove it prior to taking the medicine.

It should be done within 7 weeks of the pregnancy.

After taking the 1st dose of RU486, patients will be observed for one hour to see if they are allergic to the medicine or if there are negative reactions to vomiting and diarrhea. The doctor then can make the call to see if the patient is in need of induced abortion.

Patients should take 2nd dose of prostaglandins 36-48 hours after 1st dose.; when return of OPD follow up, the doctor will proceed to ultrasound examination to see if the abortion is thoroughly done. Surgical abortion is often arranged if there is abortion not in effect.
Notice to know prior to taking abortion drugs

Our hospital is a designated “excellent health care” clinic by bureau of health. All our doctors are qualified health care practitioners and perform abortion procedure to the letter.

Do not attend to a full stomach before the surgery though there is no restriction over food diet. If you have been currently using anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin or any other drugs, notify your doctor in advance and stop using it for now in order to prevent interactions between medicines.

Be sure to bring a form of identification for the procedure. Before signing the consent form, show your ID to our staff for they could identify your age and marital status.

A married woman has to be accompanied by her spouse and have him display his identification and sign the consent form along with his seal.

A pregnant girl under age of 20 should be accompanied by a guardian; he or she should in person shows his or her identification and household registration, and sign and seal his or her signature.
